Mahindra is working on a new compact SUV to go ahead of its competitors and focuses on good ride quality. Mahindra Sub-Compact SUV has an Expected Price of Rs. 4.5 lakh to Rs. 6.5 lakh and it would be in by mid-2015. It is being thoroughly tested for a long time and will come with features which will attract the customers in a big way. It will have petrol and diesel engine options.
With Mahindra, SUVs there is no issue with quality as it enjoys the top position in the SUVs but has a tough competition. It has plans to go for an overhaul in its existing line-up and introduce new products. It is likely to be a sub-four meter car in order to avail tax benefits and go with aggressive styling. The design of Sub-Compact SUV is in the process of being finalised. The overall shape will have modern designing with a clamshell style bonnet, and hood scoop.
Interiors and exteriors
Sub-Compact SUV has muscles but no significant interior space. The sporty roofline slopes downwards and it will also be a 6-7 seater. The doors are expected to have horizontal creases. The overall picture that emerges is of a well proportioned body that has a come here appeal. The good-looking design has been reworked with great exterior features. The new features are a large screen infotainment system, stylish dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents.
The fuel efficiency of Sub-Compact SUV would be the best in the segment. It will be powered by a 100bhp / 240Nm diesel engine and will have the 1.5-litre K9K Renault diesel engine. The starting price will be kept low to obtain a competitive edge. It includes a newly developed 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol and diesel engines, and an automated manual transmission, a centre console mounted gear stick and a modern seat at the front. The crossover is the first such Mahindra in the market.
